Microdermabrasion - What You Need to Know

Microdermabrasion is the technique in which small particles of a rough substance is used on the skin to remove old dead skin cells and to stimulate the growth of new ones. This technique uses various different types of substances and products and is usually performed on the face, chest, neck, hands and arms.

Microdermabrasion can be accomplished as a medical procedure, in a spa or salon, or at home.

Some of the beneficial effects that are associated with this technique include an improved texture of the area of the skin that has been treated. As the old cells are removed, the skin reacts as if it has been injured and quickly produces new skin cells. These newer cells feel and look smooth and youthful.

Another effect of microdermabrasion is that many of your skin’s visible flaws are removed along with the dead skin cells. These imperfections can include sun damage, blemishes, and fine lines and wrinkles.

Moisturizers and other skin products can be much more effective after this technique has been done. This effectiveness is due to the removal of the outer layer of dead cells that in turn allows these products and their ingredients to be more readily absorbed into the skin.

The lower level of skin will also be stimulated to promote cell growth when this procedure is performed over a period of time. This may lead to the removal of deeper blemishes as this layer of skin cells rush to push new cells to the surface.

Microdermabrasion can also be used to treat moderate to severe cases of acne and other skin conditions such as rosacea, herpetic lesions, warts, eczema, psoriasis, and skin lesions. This technique can provide a deep cleaning of the pores, unclogging any that may be plugged.

So if you want younger and healthier looking skin, you may want to make microdermabrasion a part of your regular beauty routine.
